Structure of the Core Curriculum
The Core Curriculum is made up of a Common Core and 5 Clusters. All students are required to take all 4 courses in the Common Core and a total of 7 courses from the 5 clusters (at least one from each cluster).

Under the 2-tier model, two common core courses ‘Logic and Critical Thinking’ and ‘The Making of Hong Kong’ will be taken in Year 1 and the other two common core courses ‘Understanding Morality’ and ‘World History and Civilisations’ in Year 2. As regards the 7 courses to be taken from the 5 clusters of core curriculum (at least one from each cluster), students should take 2 courses (6 credits) in the first year, and at least 1 course (3 credits) each year in their next three years of studies to ensure continuity between core and majors as well as seamless progression of student development.
