e-ISALL

Unit 1 : Introduction

Background

This Unit of LCE101 is an Introduction to Self-Access Language Learning (ISALL).  In this unit, you are going to be guided through the process of how to become a better language learner by becoming more independent or more autonomous.  Some students will be doing this through building a traditional ‘paper-and-binder’ portfolio to show their learning achievements.  You will also be preparing a portfolio, but yours will be digital and so you will be working on ‘e-ISALL’.   You will be using an ‘e-portfolio’.

This introduction unit is designed to help you understand:

  • why independent (autonomous) language learning is important
  • the principles underlying ISALL
  • the concept of e-ISALL
  • how to access and use your e-portfolio

The introduction will also give you an overview of the various e-ISALL tasks that you will be doing throughout the term with the deadlines for uploading them onto you e-portfolios.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please read the TECHNICAL GUIDELINES before you proceed to your e-portfolio uploads.
