Staff Suggestion Scheme 

 
Why is a suggestion scheme established?
The Staff Suggestion Scheme aims at encouraging and rewarding staff members of the University to make constructive suggestions to enhance work effectiveness and efficiency. The ultimate goal is to encourage and reward initiatives for the improvement of quality of services at the University.
 
 
Who can participate?
ALL staff members of the University are welcome to participate in the Scheme.
 
 
What kind of suggestions can I make?
The suggestions for improvement may be in any area outside your own scope of assigned responsibilities. They may be related to an area both within or outside your own office. Examples may include a more efficient workflow, better form design, ways to reduce the use of resources, etc. It does not have to be a large project, and may be related to everyday work.
 
 
 How do I participate?
(a) 
When you have identified an area for improvement at the University, please forward your suggestion under confidential cover to the Human Resources Office (HRO). You can do this any time throughout the year.
 
(b) 
You can fill in a Suggestion Form and send it to HRO under confidential cover (or e-mail to: hro@ln.edu.hk). If you do not want to use the form, you can send your suggestions to HRO in writing, in either English or Chinese, giving details of the suggestions and your contact particulars.
 
(c) 
A valid suggestion should include the details of the area identified for improvement, the suggestion and expected benefits, as well as your name, unit and contact details.
 
(d) 
Your identity will be kept confidential throughout the process. However, anonymous suggestions may also be considered. The supplying of your name only facilitates sending of the souvenir/prize to you and acknowledging your contribution.
 
(e) 
If you would like someone other than HRO to process the suggestion, you could state it clearly on a cover note and send the suggestion under confidential cover to the Chairman of the Assessment Panel via HRO.
 
 
 How will suggestions be assessed?
(a)
 
 
All suggestions collected by HRO will be submitted on a regular basis to an Assessment Panel appointed by the President for initial assessment.
 
(b) 
Suggestions shortlisted by the Panel will be passed to the department/unit concerned for consideration and, if applicable, adoption. If the suggestion is adopted for implementation, revisions to the original idea may be made at the discretion of the department/unit concerned.
 
 
 Are there any awards? 
(a) 
Upon receipt of a valid suggestion from you, a souvenir will be sent to you.
 
(b) 
If your suggestion is shortlisted by the Assessment Panel for further consideration by the relevant department/unit, you shall receive a bronze prize.
 
(c) 
If the department/unit decides to adopt the shortlisted suggestion for implementation, you shall receive a silver prize.
 
(d) 
The Assessment Panel will decide on the best suggestions periodically. Winners will be awarded with the gold prize.
