Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) strives to provide state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) support for Lingnan University to achieve its goal of becoming a liberal arts university of international standing. In order to achieve this mission, ITSC has the following goals:

• To provide an IT infrastructure that is sufficient in capacity, highly reliable and cost-effective for all IT applications at Lingnan.

The major components of this IT infrastructure include the Campus Network, servers and PCs, computer labs and multimedia lecture theatres and lecture rooms. These components are to be maintained to meet the administrative and academic computing needs of the University with a high degree of reliability and cost-effectiveness.

• To provide effective administrative support through integration of functional subsystems and business process re-engineering.

An Integrated Administrative System (IAS) is being developed to facilitate the integration of information from student records, human resources, finance, alumni/development, courseware, Portal and email, enabling ongoing business process re-engineering of existing operational procedures and practices. Efficient operation and effective decision making are expected for all administrative units of the University as a result of the IAS implementation.

• To provide IT support to individual students and staff.

ITSC staff will provide support to meet the IT needs of individual students and staff. These needs may include the acquisition and maintenance of hardware and software, recovery from system failure, IT training and other IT-related requests.

• To enhance teaching and learning.

ITSC will help heighten the effectiveness of the educational delivery system and foster a better environment for teaching and learning through innovative use of IT, including e-Learning and e-Portfolio systems.
