1. Entrance Requirements:

 
  Applicants must have obtained:  
  (a) grade D or above in AS "Use of English"; AND
(b) grade D or above in AS "Chinese Language & Culture".
 
     
  2. Preference will also be given to applicants who have passed subjects such as History, Literature or Liberal Studies.  
     
 

3. Mature Students

Mature students with good language ability and some experience in the cultural and media sectors are encouraged to apply. Mature students are those who are normally 23 or above on 1st September in the year when admission is sought, provided:

(a) i) they are able to show by evidence that they have achieved sufficient competence in their chosen field of study to justify admission, or ii) they have shown exceptional ability in appropriate academic or professional fields;
(b) they have at least three years of relevant working experience; AND
(c) they can produce evidence of at least three years of continuous residence in Hong Kong. Mature applicants will be considered separately and each case is considered on its own merits.

 
 

 

 
 

4. Non-local Students

Local students are those who have a right of abode in Hong Kong, or have resided or had their home in Hong Kong continuously for three years immediately before the commencement of their studies at the University. Otherwise, they will be regarded as non-local students.

It is our intention to admit non-local students in accordance with University policy and subject to the availability of places. Applicants with an acceptable equivalent qualification may apply, such as:

(a) a degree or diploma awarded by a recognised tertiary institution; or
(b) satisfactory completion of the first year in a four-year undergraduate curriculum of a recognised institution; or
(c) satisfactory completion of two years of full-time study in a post-Form Five institution; or
(d) other qualifications which University will consider on an individual basis equivalent to the normal entry
requirements.
(e) Non-local students may be required to demonstrate their competence in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of
550 or above, in line with University policy.

 
     
  School and non-school applicants who seek admission to degree programmes on the strength of their HKALE results may apply through JUPAS. JUPAS applicants are not allowed to submit a separate application.
Persons who have fulfilled the University entrance requirements and seek admission to the programme may apply directly to the University.
