Foundation Courses in Year 1

In the first year of study, all major students are required to take Foundation Courses in preparation for their Core Module of Cultural Studies and Stream of Study to be taken in Year 2 and 3.

I. Required Foundation Courses (15 credits)

1. CUS102 Commodity Culture and Everyday Life
2. CUS103 Introduction to Cultural Analysis
3. CUS106 The Making of Modern Culture
4. CUS115 Methodologies in Cultural Research
5. CUS132 Cultural Transformation in Modern China

II. Programme Electives

Any additional 3 credits to be chosen from any CUS courses

III. University Required Courses (12 credits)

1. LCC101 Practical Chinese I
2. LCE101 English for Communication I-II
3. LCE102 English for Communication I-II
4. General Education (Category A) by the end of the third term (summer term not counted).
