Email: wtseleac@ln.edu.hk Tel: 26167786 Tutorials are held in the Main Library in Room MB 101/36. The Writing Tutorial Service is a resource open to under-graduate students at Lingnan University. The aims of the service are to encourage reflection and evaluation of writing through critical thinking and exploration. Tutees develop their writing skills through discussion and guided tasks on textual elements; such as, structure, style, expression, conventions of grammar and word usage. How can the Writing Tutorial Service help me? In a 50 minute tutorial, the tutor will discuss the assignment, read what the tutee has already written and talk about what should be done next. This will include developing and organizing ideas, modifying structure and layout as well suggestions for writing with greater clarity, precision and accuracy. You can come to the Writing Tutorial Service at all stages of your writing, from brainstorming to the final draft. What should I bring? You should bring a copy of the assignment and any notes you have made on the assignment. You should also think about what you would like to discuss during the tutorial and what problems you feel you are having. If possible, you can write down a list of questions you would like to ask the tutor. If you have been referred to the Writing Tutorial Service by a teacher, you may be given a referral form which you will also need to bring. How do I make an appointment? You can make an appointment through our online registration page. I only have a quick question, do I need to make an appointment? You can 'drop in' to the Writing Tutorial Service without making an appointment. If you notice the ‘drop in’ sign on the door of the MB 101/36 the tutor is available for drop in consultation. This is mainly for quick questions. If you have a problem or a question which will take a longer time, you should make an appointment. |
