Irrevocable Enrolment Policy of General Education Courses

The Committee revisited the enrolment policy as recommended by the AQAC. The Chairman maintained the position that GE programme should be respected as a discipline and should have the same academic authority as any of its disciplinary counterparts. Having tight resources and limited quota, the Committee resolved that the irrevocable enrolment policy should be upheld, i.e. a student cannot change the designation of a GE course into a free-elective course or vice versa. However, under special circumstances, changes in designation might still be permitted with the approval of the Director of Core Curriculum and General Education.

The Senate had approved the irrevocable enrolment policy of General Education courses on 4 January 2001.
