Visitors to Malaysia must hold a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of 6 months beyond the intended visiting period.

Travel to Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is the main international airport and aviation hub of Malaysia. KLIA services most international flights and is located about 50 km south of city. It is connected to the city by KLIA Ekspres high-speed train service.

Traveling time and cost between KLIA and the city:

By KLIA Ekspres: KLIA ERL station (Level 1 while arrival hall is on Level 3) <-> KL Sentral Station, about 30 minutes (cost about RM35)

By car: via highway, about 1 hour (Hotel Limousine: RM200/car, Taxi: about RM100)

Traveling time and cost between KL Sentral and the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel:

By Monorail: KL Sentral Station (opposite to KLIA Ekspres station) <-> Bukit Nanas, about 30 minutes (cost about RM3.1)

By Rapid KL: KL Sentral Station <-> Dang Wangi, about 30 minutes (cost about RM1.6)

  Travel inside Kuala Lumpur

KL has an extensive rail system operated by Rapid KL, KL Monorail, and KTM Komuter. KL Sentral Station serves as an interchange station for the three rail systems and is also a hub for intercity railway. Other public transportation modes include bus and taxi.

Climate

KL enjoys a year-round equatorial climate which is warm and sunny, with plentiful rainfall. In December, the average temperature is 31.5¢XC.

Currency

Malaysian Ringgit (RYM / RM) is the currency of Malaysia. Banknotes come in denominations of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100 and coins come in denominations of 5 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen and 50 sen. RM1 is divided into 100 sen (cents).

Foreign currency can be exchanged in the airport, hotels and large shopping malls.
