Sexual Rights, Domestic Violence and Peace ----1000 Women for Nobel Peace Prize Workshop II

 

和平讓我們想起「暴力」。暴力不僅存在於搶奪他人的土地﹑資源和殺戮別的民族成員的戰爭中﹐也存在於日常生活中﹐包括剝奪他人如何處理自己的性和身體的權利﹐以及他人能在一個不受威脅的家庭環境中生活的權利。女性通常是這些性和家庭暴力的受害者﹐而施暴者可能是身邊的丈夫﹑情人﹑社會福利署﹑警察﹐甚至你我無形的歧視眼光。究竟一些曾經是暴力的受害者的婦女﹐如何變成和平大使﹖一些性工作團體的組織者﹐又如何與「阿姐」共同爭取性權和工作權﹐建立和平文化﹖請來參加這個有關婦女與和平的工作坊。

Peace is related to violence. Violence is not confined to wars, but also includes all sorts of exploitation and menace in our daily life. Women are generally victims of sexual and family violence. They may be exploited by their husbands, lovers, government officials, police, and all forms of discrimination. But some victims of family violence stand up and become peace ambassadors. Other women work for the rights of sex workers. You may listen to their stories and how they create peace culture in the community in this workshop.

Teachers' Workshop on Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies

In collaboration with Hong Kong Professional Teachers Union and the Department of Cultural Studies, the CRD has been running a training workshop entitled "Teaching Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies" for secondary school teachers.

The workshop aims to examine different pedagogical principles and approaches in the teaching of Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies subjects. Attended by about 50 teachers, the first series in the workshop was held from 29 November to 20 December 2003. The topics covered were: 1. "Basic Concepts and Approaches to Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies"; 2. "Teaching Developments in Modern China"; "Teaching Hong Kong Society and Hong Kong Studies"; 4. "Teaching Personal Relationship and Self-Development."

Speakers and moderators of these workshops included Professor Chan Ching-kiu, Dr. Chan Shun-hing, and Dr. Hui Po-keung from the CRD. The second series is expected to be held between May and July 2004.

The nomination of 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005 has finished. Please come to this sharing by the nominees of their stories and their dreams, and a discussion of how they foster peace and security amidst the violences of modern development.
