Teaching Fellow / Assistant Teaching Fellow
Department of Sociology and Social Policy
(Post: Ref.10/14/W) The Department combines teaching and research in sociology, social policy and behavioural sciences. It contributes with the Department of Economics and the Department of Political Science to the integrated Social Sciences Programme in the University. Areas of teaching specialization are open but willingness to teach in at least three of the following is preferred: “Introduction to Behavioural Science”, “Social Psychology”, “Exploring Psychology in Western and Chinese Cultures”, “Environmental Psychology” and “Positive Psychology and Positive Living”. The ability to teach “Research Methods in Social Science”, “Introduction to Research Methods for Social Sciences” and “Statistics for Social Science” will be advantageous. Applicants should have relevant teaching experience, and are expected to provide evidence of quality teaching.
General Requirements:
Applicants should have a master’s degree in the relevant discipline with particular experience in behavioural science. Applicants for the post of Teaching Fellow should have a PhD degree in Psychology with at least four years’ relevant experience.
Conditions of Appointment:
The monthly salary ranges are as follows: Teaching Fellow – HK$24,300.- to HK$42,100.-; Assistant Teaching Fellow – HK$19,100.- to HK$27,900.-. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity for eligible appointees. Appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of two years.
