Part-time Research Assistant
Teaching and Learning Centre
(Post Ref.: 10/26/W)
 
 
The appointee will take part in a Teaching Development Project entitled “Developing a Virtual World Teaching Resource”. He/She is expected to work with academic staff and students, undertake literature reviews, and prepare documents. The appointee will also be required to train and support teaching staff, organize and lead tutorial sessions with students, undertake data collection, and limited coding and data preparation.

Requirements: (i) a Bachelor’s degree (with first class honours) or a Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, and/or Social Sciences or a Master’s degree in an appropriate field, which may include Education or Psychology; (ii) good knowledge in statistics and quantitative analysis (the ability to use SPSS is an advantage); (iii) a good command of Cantonese and English, with the ability to draft teaching and learning guides in English; (iv) strongly self-motivated; (v) able to work with limited supervision; (vi) willing to learn how to use a virtual world viewer to create and manage a private educational space (the ability to use Second Life / Open Sim viewer software is an advantage); and (vii) able to train and support staff and students in the development of a virtual world teaching resource.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
The appointment will be made on a part-time basis and the project is expected to be completed by August 2012. The appointee will be required to work for around 5 to 17 hours per week. The remuneration is up to HK$100.- per hour. Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
