Twenty professionals and executives offer mentorship to Lingnan students

Twenty members of the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association (HKPASEA), who are leaders in their respective professions, will offer mentorship to 25 Lingnan students under the Leadership Mentoring Programme.

The Programme, jointly organised for seventh consecutive years by Lingnan University and HKPASEA, aims to build up students’ social networks and broaden their horizons in order to seize every opportunity for career development, as well as foster a caring heart to serve and become a future leader in our community.

The Programme’s Kick-off Ceremony on 1 April was officiated by Ir Chan Siu-hung, President of HKPASEA and President Leonard K Cheng.  President Cheng thanked all mentors for their time and passion to guide the students, and encouraged students to actively learn from their mentors’ life experience and career success.

Addressing the ceremony, Ir Chan mentioned a sharing by Prof David Ho Da-i, a renowned HIV/AIDS researcher, with HKPASEA members in 2014 on the topic “Reflections of a Biomedical Scientist”, who pointed out that “you would become immutable if you just do what you are capable of; and you would be upgraded only if you do what you are supposed to do”.  Ir Chan called on students to seriously think about the questions of what they “should do” and “can do”.
