Lingnan University co-organises symposium in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to China

Sun Yat-sen University organised the “Roles and Status of Hong Kong and Macao in China’s National Development Strategies – International Symposium on the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to China” in Guangzhou from 12 to 14 May.  Lingnan University is one of the co-organisers of the symposium.

 

The symposium attracted over 100 experts and scholars from overseas and around the nation.  Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Comparative Policy of Lingnan University led a team of Lingnan representatives to attend the symposium.  He delivered a speech with the theme “Belt and Road Initiatives: Challenges and Possibilities for Hong Kong in the International Educational Context”.

 

At the symposium’s forum sessions, attendants conducted diverse discussions under different themes including “economy and livelihood” and “society and culture”.  Dr Chow Man-kong, Deputy Director of Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Centre of Lingnan University gave a presentation at the “economy and livelihood” forum; Prof Stefan Kühner, Assistant Professor, Prof Lau Ka-wai, Research Associate Professor, as well as Dr Vincent Wen Zhuoyi, Dr Han Xiao and Dr Jiang Jin, Research Assistant Professors of Lingnan illustrated their research results at the “society and culture” forum.

 

The symposium successfully served as a platform for representatives to exchange insights with in-depth discussion on Hong Kong-Macao cooperative relationship.
