Professor T. S. Chan is Shun Hing Chair Professor of Marketing and Associate
Vice President (Academic Quality Assurance) at Lingnan University. Professor
Chan began his higher education career as a teacher and researcher at the
Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1975. He left his Senior Lecturer in
Marketing and International Business position at CUHK in 1987 and joined Saint
Mary's University in Canada, where he served as Professor of Marketing and
Director of Graduate Studies and Research. In 1995, he returned to Hong Kong to
join Lingnan as Dean of the Faculty of Business.
Professor Chan graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (USA) with
a BBA degree in Marketing and the MBA degree in International Business. He was
the recipient of the Lingnan Trustees Doctoral Scholarship and Indiana
University Graduate Fellowship to pursue doctoral study at Indiana University,
Bloomington (USA), where he was awarded the Doctor of Business Administration
degree in International Business and Marketing.
As an active researcher, he has published/edited twelve books and over 100
articles and papers in the areas of international marketing channel strategies,
cross-cultural consumer behavior, joint venture decisions, and marketing
education. He serves on the editorial board of five international journals. He
is also Chair of the Southeast Asia Chapter of the Academy of International
Business. He consults widely for corporations and government agencies in Hong
Kong and abroad, his areas of consulting include strategic marketing planning,
effective selling, leadership and human relations, and intercultural
communication.
Professor Chan is actively involved with several quality assurance bodies in
Hong Kong. He is Chairman of The Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary
Institutions, immediate past Chairman of the Joint Quality Review Committee (JQRC),
and an auditor for the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) of the University Grants
Committee. He is a member of the Manpower Development Committee of the Hong Kong
Special Administrative Region Government. In addition, he has served in various
leadership capacities for boards and committees with public and professional
organizations, including the Hong Kong Canada Business Association (Canada),
Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Hong Kong Institute of
Marketing, Rotary International, Scout Association of Hong Kong, and Vocational
Training Council.
