Starting from the 2005-06 Academic Year, the intake of 2004-05 and onwards can take a "Supporting Specialisation" within their BBA discipline in
order to enrich their business knowledge via a complementary or contrasting line
of study to their Stream.
Each Supporting Specialisation shall consist of 12 credits (i.e. four courses)
with no double count allowed. Therefore,
business students who take a Supporting Specialisation in another business area
will need an addition of 6 credits (i.e. 2 courses) to fulfill the University
requirement that at least half of the 12-credit free electives (i.e. 6 credits,
2 courses) should be outside their major discipline.
As a result, business students who take a Supporting Specialisation will
graduate with 96 credits, subject to his/her possession of credit transfer and
exemption.
The
Business Programmes Office will administer the operation of the Supporting
Specialisation. As with the current practice for Minor Programmes, students have
to declare their "Supporting Specialisation" by the end of the add/drop period
in the first term of their final year of study. A student, who upon graduation,
has successfully fulfilled the requirement specified in the curriculum of the
Supporting Specialisation, shall have the title of his/her Supporting Specialisation indicated in his/her transcript.
