Biography
LUI Hon-Kwong received his Ph.D. in economics from The University of Hong Kong and is now Associate Professor at the Department of Marketing and International Business. His current teaching assignments include Marketing Research and Microeconomics for Business. He worked for a few years as marketing executive in retail industry and as Statistician in the civil service. His consulting experience is mainly in the area of market research and analysis.
Dr. Lui¡¦s research interests include labour economics, applied marketing research, and Hong Kong economy. He is the author of four books and has published articles in leading and highly respected journals, including Management Science, Urban Studies, Human Relations, Economic Inquiry, and Journal of International Marketing, among many others. His current research focuses on income distribution, internal mobility, and travel patterns.
Other than academic research, Dr. Lui is very active in University committee and community services. He was re-appointed by the Chief Justice as a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel for a term of three years with effect from 3 May 2011. Moreover, has was re-appointed by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury as a member of the Disciplinary Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) for a term of two years till 31 January 2013. At present, he is also a member of the EcoPark Advisory Committee. He had also held other public service appointments such as Council Member of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority and Deputy Chairman of its Research & Development Committee. At Lingnan University, he was Head of Department, Associate Director of Business Programmes and Chairman of Catering Committee. On the other hand, he has published over 120 commentaries in major newspapers and these commentaries can be broadly divided into four groups: education, public policy, economic environment, and labour market. He has been frequently interviewed by media and invited as guest speaker on various live TV and radio programmes.
