Inauguration ceremony of Simon and Eleanor Kwok Building at Lingnan University

To prepare for the four-year university system, construction of Lingnan University’s new academic building, Simon and Eleanor Kwok Building, has been completed, providing more teaching and learning facilities for the Faculty of Business.
An inauguration ceremony was held today and officiated by the donors, Dr Simon Kwok Siu-ming, JP, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sa Sa International Holdings Limited and Dr Eleanor Kwok Law Kwai-chun, BBS, Vice-chairman of Sa Sa International Holdings Limited. They were joined by Ms Sophia Kao, SBS, JP, Deputy Chairman of the University Council; Mr Ben Wong Chung-mat, MH, JP, Treasurer of the University Council; Mr Patrick Ma Ching-hang, JP, Chairman of the Institutional Advancement Committee of the University and President Chan Yuk-Shee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Kwok expects the completion of the new building would enable the University a better position “to groom bright young people with a caring heart and commitment to serve the community”, who are capable of riding the tides of this fast-changing world.
Ms Kao hailed Dr Simon and Eleanor Kwok’s philanthropic spirit, which would inspire and motivate the students to serve the community. President Chan also thanked their generosity and support to the University.
Located adjacent to the existing campus and near Fu Tai Estate, the Simon and Eleanor Kwok Building is built on a 4,674-square metre site and has a gross floor area of 5,178 square metres. It is linked to the main campus by a pedestrian footbridge, providing lecture rooms, a computer laboratory and student activity areas. It adopts a number of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient features, such as automatic light switching, solar lighting, energy retrieval and rainwater collection for irrigation systems.
