Lingnan University appoints Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho as Vice-President

The Council of Lingnan University approved today (2 March) the recommendation of its Search Committee to appoint Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho as Vice-President for a term of five years.

Professor Mok is Chair Professor of Comparative Policy, concurrently Vice President (Research and Development) of The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd). He has worked creatively across the academic worlds of sociology, political science and public and social policy while building up his wide knowledge of China and the region. Professor Mok has published extensively in the fields of comparative education policy, comparative development and policy studies, and social development in contemporary China and East Asia. In particular, he has contributed to the field of social change and education policy in a variety of additional ways, not the least of which has been his leadership and entrepreneurial approach to the organisation of the field.

Professor Mok is active in promoting international cooperation in academic and research programmes. He was named by the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China as Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor (Comparative Education and East Asian Studies) in 2010.

The Chairman of the Council, Mr Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen congratulated Professor Mok on his new appointment and said, “With his passion for teaching and learning, his deep understanding of liberal arts education as well as the tertiary education system in Hong Kong, Professor Mok under the leadership of President Professor Leonard Cheng will be able to bring the University’s development to the next level.”
