Buddies Scheme

With the aim to promote cross-cultural exchange and internationalization within the university community, OMIP recruits enthusiastic students to take part in the captioned programme every term.

Benefits of the programme

  • It provides you with the best platform to make friends and interact with students from all over the world;
  • It helps you understand and learn more about the other countries and culture, but also yours;
  • It is also a rewarding means to serve, to have fun and to achieve personal growth;
  • It helps you enhance your cultural awareness, communication & interpersonal skills, as well as your competence;
  • If you are an “active” Buddy, the OMIP will present you with a Certificate of Appreciation at the end of the programme, which can be utilized as a credential in your resume.

Mechanism of Buddies Scheme

Once your application is successful, you will be invited to join the briefing and training sessions. Before the arrival of the new non-local students, you will be informed of your group with one or more non-local students. As an ambassador of Lingnan, you play as a resource person for the non-local students and keep in touch with them during the term.

  • Provide information and guidance to the non-local students;
  • Assist in the organization of Orientation Programme for the non-local students, and other University activities such as International Day;
  • Plan and organize cross-cultural activities like survival language course, festivals, performances, excursions and tours;
  • Encourage non-local students to participate into campus activities.

Term of Programme

The programme lasts for one year.
Group list of Buddies and non-local students will be formed in each term.
