A BLUE background photo for document use is required. The size of the photo photo should not be larger than 55mm x 45mm and not smaller than 50mm X 40mm. Please be noted that the photograph must taken full face and without a hat.

On Course Registration

Q4: When does the online course registration start?

They are normally near mid-June (for 1st Fall Term) and mid-December (for 2nd Spring Term).  We will notify the exchange student of their login name, password and registration procedures by email.

Q5. What can I do if the course(s) I wish to add is/are full?

You may try again later any time during the designated Course Registration Period to see if there's anything opens up (as other students may drop the course).

You may also try your luck again during the Add/Drop period (around late August to early September for 1st Fall Term and mid to late January for 2nd Spring Term).

If nothing opens up, you may sit-in the course and obtain approval directly from the course instructor during the Add/Drop period. If the instructor's approval is granted, a form namely "Application for Adding/Dropping Courses and Changing Sections" must be filled out and submit to the Registry for your course enrollment.   You may obtain the form from the reception counter at the Registry or it can be downloaded from the following website:
http://www.ln.edu.hk/reg/registry-services/forms.php

However, kindly note that your enrolment is not guarantee. Thus, it is important that you select your alternative course(s) and register for at least 12 credits during the Course Registration Period (to fulfill the minimum requirement as a full-time exchange student) in case you fail to enroll the course(s) you wished.

Q6: When is the Add/Drop period?

Around late August to early September for 1st Fall Term and mid-January to late January for 2nd Spring Term.

Q7. Can I add a course that has pre-requisite requirements?

The online course registration system does not have restriction set for students to register courses that have pre-requisites.  In other words, students can always register for courses that have pre-requisites (as long as the courses still have space available).  However, for courses that have pre-requisites, students are required to submit request and provide proof of fulfillment of equivalent courses(s) (e.g. transcript, course syllabus, etc) to OMIP for our onward transmission to Registry. Final enrolment will be subject to the approval of the course(s) instructor and the availability of the course(s).  If waiver is not granted, students will be asked to drop the course(s).

Q8:  What can I do if my Lingnan account is blocked?
Please email us and we will ask our ITSC to help you to activate your account.

Q9. I received an error message (eg. Link Error: A1/A2/X2 required) when trying to add a course. What does it mean?

It means that the course you picked is in LEC-cum-TUT mode. In such case, you will need to register 1 LEC (lecture) session and 1 TUT (tutorial) session for this course. Please refer to the Guideline for Online Course Registration which will assist you in your course registration.

Q10. Is there any Chinese Language course that is designed for non-Chinese speakers?

Yes, you may consider LCC111 "Chinese Language as a Second Language”. Please refer to the links below for the course description: http://www.ln.edu.hk/reg/info/study/LCC.pdf

On Arrival Arrangement

Q11. Is there any pick-up service during non-scheduled time?

No, the student needs to make your own way to Lingnan.  Please refer to the following website for more details: http://www.ln.edu.hk/omip/inbound/arrival-pick-up.php

Q12. If my arrival time falls close to/right at/slightly behind the scheduled pick-up time (i.e. my flight arrives at 3:50p.m. whereas the pick-up services scheduled for 4p.m. and 9p.m.), shall I opt for the service at 4p.m. or the one at 9p.m.?

OMIP representative(s) and/or Student Buddies will arrive at the pick-up point 30 minutes before the scheduled time and the group will be leaving the meeting point for the pick-up coach at the scheduled time SHARP. For those whose port of entry is Hong Kong International Airport, after you land, it will take you at least another 30 minutes to go through Hong Kong Immigration Department for landing procedures, clear custom and pick up checked baggage (if any). Thus, please make sure that you are able to report to the meeting point on or before the scheduled time, otherwise, you SHOULD opt for the next available schedule or make your own way to Lingnan.

Q13. Does arrival pick up service open to accompanied parents?

Arrival pick up service for accompanied parents will be subjected to availability on site and is not guaranteed. No prior reservation will be accepted and priority will always be given to all prospective students.
Also, accompanied parents are not allowed to stay overnight in the hostel. For information on accommodations within campus or nearby area, please refer to Q13 under the “On Housing and Meals” in the FAQ section.

Q14. If I decided to make my own way to Lingnan, do I need to provide OMIP my arrival details?

Yes, you are also required to provide OMIP your arrival details (arrival date, time, itinerary and port of entry) for our record purpose so that we would be able to locate you in case of emergency matters.

Q15. If I make my own way to Lingnan, where should I go/who should I report to upon my arrival at Lingnan?

If your arrival falls within our office hours (Monday – Friday 0900-1230 & 1330-1730), please report to our office (Office of Mainland and International Programmes) before check-in at Student Hostels.

If your arrival falls outside our office hours, please report directly to the Security counter at your assigned hostel, our Security staff shall then inform Duty tutor to facilitate your check-in.

Campus map can be found in the Student Handbook (Appendix 6): our office is located in Room 208/1, 2/F, Wong Administration Building (no. 3 on the campus map), Hostel A – D are located in the southern part of the campus (no. 14 on the campus map) whilst Hostel E & F are in the north (no. 17 on the campus map).

On Lingnan Intranet & Email Services

Q16. Can I still login to the Lingnan Intranet after leaving Lingnan from the exchange programme?

No, ITSC will restrict your access to the intranet and email services a few days after the end of each Term.  If you want to check your grade from the intranet beyond the foresaid period, please send a request email to OMIP.  We will pass your request to ITSC, but there is no guarantee that request from former exchange students could be entertained.
