Eligibility

Academic Requirement

Application is open for all non final year students registered in a 3-year or 4-year government-funded degree programme (except foundation year).

You may apply if

  • You are a Year 1 student, who will be a Year 2 student in 2009-2010, may go study abroad in either the 1st (Fall) Term/Semester, or 2nd (Spring) Term/Semester, if selected, or

  • You are a Year 2 student, who will be a Year 3 student in 2009-2010, can ONLY go study abroad for the 1st (Fall) Term/Semester, if selected and

  • Your GPA is at least or above 2.5 in Term 1 of 2008/09, as well as an overall GPA of at least 2.5 before their departure.

Because of the programme requirements in the Finance stream, Finance students (3-year curriculum) can only participate in the exchange programmes in the 1st (Fall) Term of either their Year 2 or Year 3 studies (subject to confirmation).

For Accounting students (3-year curriculum), it is best to participate in the exchange programmes in Year 2 because the big 4 CPA firms conduct their interviews in the 1st (Fall) Term Year 3 for Year 3 students.

B.A. (Hons.) in Contemporary English Studies and Education students (2-year curriculum) are NOT eligible for the MEP/IEP.

No final term, final year students are permitted to study outside Hong Kong.

 

Other Requirements

1. English Language Requirement for IEP Participants

Students who wish to participate in the IEP must meet one of the following requirements before they are eligible for student exchange:

  • a minimum TOEFL score of 213 (computer-based test), 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (internet-based test) <TOEFL website: http://ets.org/toefl>; or
  • a minimum IELTS (Academic Module) score of Band 6.0 <IELTS website: http://www.ielts.org>

2. Chinese Language Requirement for MEP Participants

Students who wish to participate in the MEP must have a good command of Chinese and Putonghua at the level of LCC 102 Practical Chinese II or equivalent.

You MUST return to Lingnan University to study after your one-term/semester abroad. It is NOT possible to study abroad for more than one-term/semester.
