Leadership Enhancement Programme

The Senate has approved the proposal on ILP Leadership Enhancement Programme(LEP) for Office-bearers on 27 September 2010. Details of the programme are as follows:

1.       Eligibility

Students who are office-bearers of student societies registered under Students’ Union, Student Hostel Associations (SHAs) or groups under Office of Student Affairs (OSA) or University Office are eligible to apply for this programme.

2.       Requirement

Each applicant is required to fulfill two components of the programme, namely, training and practicum.

2.1   Training Component

2 ILP units of training in the domains of "Civic Education and Leadership Development" and  "Social and Emotional Well-being" are required to equip the office-bearers with necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become effective student leaders. The training topics will focus on integrity, self governance, ethics, equal opportunity, awareness on sexual harassment, effective meeting and leadership skills.

2.2   Practicum Component

7 to 13 ILP units in the domain of Social and Emotional Well-being for the practicum component will be awarded if the service performance, written annual report and financial report of his/her student society have been approved by the respective supervising unit, such as student societies by Students’ Union, Student Hostel Associations approved by Wardens Offices, and groups under Office of Student Affairs or University Office approved by OSA.

2.3   ILP Units Awarded to Office-Bearers

Taking reference from the existing point system for hostel residents, the ILP units to be awarded to office-bearers are as follows:

3.      Effective Date

Upon the Senate’s approval, the programme will take immediate effect. 

 4.      ILP Training Records

ILP Training Records (庄友訓練系列) can be retrieved on web transcript in the myLingnan Portal(http://portal.LN.edu.hk).

 5.     Remarks

5.1   Students who are officer-bearers of student societies registered under Students’ Union, Student Hostel Associations (SHAs) or groups under OSA are required to attend the 2 ILP units of LEP before or within the term of service in order to fulfill the training component of the programme.

5.2   Each student could only be granted ILP units under LEP once within his/her university study.

5.3   Students who have fulfilled the training and practicum components of LEP, but are not going to apply for the programme, must apply for not receiving the award of ILP units within 1 week after completion of term of service. Late application may not be considered. Once students apply for not receiving the award of ILP units for a particular year, retroactive application for the programme will not be accepted.
