Office of Service-Learning at Lingnan is pleased to announce the first annual session of the Service-Learning Summer Institute, to be held at Lingnan in the summer of 2010. The Institute is a summer-term program that will explore social issues in Hong Kong and China, through a curriculum that includes guest lectures and seminars, research and discussion forums, agency visits, and Service-Learning practicum. Students will also engage in Service-Learning field trip and agency visits in Guangzhou and Yunnan. The Institute will provide a great opportunity for students to obtain a better understanding of social issues in Hong Kong, China, and the world, from theoretical layers to practical methods. You will be able to connect your academic knowledge to action in the real world, while forming friendships with other enthusiastic students from all over the world. Students of any discipline are welcome, but previous Service-Learning and/or Civic Engagement experiences are required. The application due date for this program for international students is 15 January, 2010. The application due date for local students has been extended to 3 February, 2010.
