The first leg of the 9th Universities Indoor Rowing Championships was held on 17 February 2009 at The University of Hong Kong. Lingnan University’s Rowing Team won the second runner-up in 4x500m Men Team Relay. The rowers are:

CHIM Tak-fung (Social Sciences Year 3)
CHOW Wai-to (Social Sciences Year 2)
KWAN Kum-him (AD Year 2)
YIU Chi-lung (BBA Year 1)

The annual event is held in the eight participating universities. Three competitions – Men 4, Women 4 and Mixed 4, are organised at each university. Each athlete has to row 500m while the first team which completed 2000m distance wins. The remaining seven rounds will be held during 10 March – 15 April 2009.
