The BBA (Hons) Programme at Lingnan University employs a liberal arts approach to the business education. Students will acquire a body of knowledge in the liberal arts and business, in addition to an in-depth knowledge of a specialised field. They are encouraged to read widely and to adopt a critical approach to problem solving. Assumptions underlying theories are questioned and scrutinised in respect of their relevance to events in the business field.
The core elements of the curriculum require students independently to formulate conceptual models, to integrate and synthesise knowledge, ideas and information, and, on these bases, to generate solutions to problems in a variety of fields especially the field of business. The approach facilitates the development of the conceptual framework essential for the analysis of problems on an integrated basis.
The relatively small class sizes (in most cases, less than 35) of business courses encourage the development of close staff-student and student-student relationships, which are a hallmark of liberal arts teaching and learning. Many business courses contribute to the building of broad-based generic skills through the adoption of team-based in-class activities and team-based out-of class assignments, culminating in oral presentations and written project reports.
Graduates from the BBA (Honours) degree programme will have received a broadbased education. They will also have followed an area of concentration and thus will be well placed in the job market.
