(A) Current Research Areas in Social Sciences
The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Programme in Social Sciences was launched in 1995-1996 academic year, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme in Social Sciences in the 2000-2001 academic year. Both MPhil and PhD Programmes require in-depth study in specific research areas in the Social Sciences Programme including Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Social Policy and Psychology.

(B) Master of Science in International Banking and Finance Programme
In addition, the Department of Economics also launched a full-time self-financing taught Master of Science in International Banking and Finance Programme in the 2006-2007 academic year.
