1. What is the normal study load for each year?
The normal study load of a full time student in a term should be in the range of 15 to 18 credits and the maximum study load in an academic year should be 33 credits. Nevertheless, exceed extra may be granted by the Programme Director, Head of Department and the Academic Dean concerned. What is academic probation? What condition will a student be put on academic probation?
A student will be put on academic probation in the following term(s) if his/her Cumulative G.P.A. is below 1.67. A student on academic probation cannot take more than 12 credits of courses per term except otherwise approved. Student is required to see his/her academic advisor once a month during the term he/she is put on academic probation. 3. If I plan to study Senior Thesis in my final year, do I need to fulfill some pre-requisite course(s)?
If you plan to opt for Senior Thesis in your third year, you need to take one of the courses as prerequisite: SSC217 Statistics for Social Sciences OR ECO203 Fundamental Econometric Methods. Exemption will be granted by the Progamme Director in consultation with supervisors.
4. Where can I see the course description and their prerequisite and restriction rules?

5. How can I get a Minor Programme?
A student may use the credits assigned for free electives in the curriculum of his/her registered programme of studies to take courses leading to a Minor Progamme. The registration for a Minor progamme should be done by the end of the add/drop period in the first term of his/her final year of study. The requirements for a Minor Programme are specified in the curriculum concerned. A student can be exempted from taking a maximum of one course of 3 credits in fulfilling his/her Minor Programme requirements, on the basis of completion of the courses) offered by the University. For instance, course A is one of the required courses to fulfill the graduation requirements in your major programme, if the course A is also a course required in your Minor Programme, students can be granted exemption for course A in your Minor Programme.
6. How many General Education course(s) should I take?
To graduate with an honours Degree, an undergraduate student has to take and pass three term courses in General Education. One course in Category A is mandatory. A student shall complete two other courses among Categories B, C and D (at most one course from each of these categories). Students should have taken a Category A GE course by the end of the third term (summer term not counted).
7. What is Social Sciences Elective Courses?
Social Sciences Courses
include courses with course code BEH, ECO, POL, SOC and SSC.
8. What is Free Electives?
Students may select courses in any disciplines to obtain the total number of credits required for graduation, subject to timetable, course load and study scheme constraints. Among these free elective credits, at least six should be obtained from courses outside their own study programmes.
9. What is Term GPA and Cumulative GPA?
This is a figure ranging from 0 to 4.00 (A = 4.00) used to indicate the performance of a student in the term concerned. Please refer to point 19 of the following link for details:
