Lingnan University offers PhD programmes in the following areas:

Arts: Chinese, Cultural Studies, English, History, Philosophy, Translation, and Visual Studies.

Social Sciences: Economics and International Finance, Political Science and International Relations, Sociology, Social Gerontology, and Social Policy and Psychology.

Across the different disciplines, the University generally has a considerable strength and depth on topics and information related to China and Asian Pacific studies.

The normal study period of PhD programmes is 3 years for those candidates who possess a relevant Master's degree and 4 years for those candidates without a relevant Master's degree.
