No student should be unable to continue their study because of financial difficulties as various types of financial assistance are available for needy students. Local full-time students who are in financial difficulty may apply for one or more types of financial assistance in the form of grant, bursary, and loan as follows:

Government Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes (TSFS)
ˇ@
The means-tested grant and loan scheme administered by the Government Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) provides the largest amount of financial assistance for full-time UGC-funded local students.

ˇ@ Government Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-Secondary Students (FASP)
ˇ@ The means-tested grant and loan scheme administered by the SFAA provides financial assistance for sub-degree graduates aged 25 or below pursuing full-time locally accredited self-financing degree or top-up degree programmes.

Government Non-means-tested Loan Schemes (NLS & ENLS)

The non-means-tested loan schemes administered by the SFAA provide interest-bearing loan for eligible students to settle tuition fees of full-time or part-times courses.

ˇ@ The non-means-tested loan scheme administered by the SFAA provides interest-bearing loan for students aged 25 or below who are sub-degree graduates studying self-financing degree.

Government Student Travel Subsidy Scheme
ˇ@
All full-time local students up to their first degree level and who are successful in their applications for assistance under the Government grant/loan schemes will be eligible if they reside beyond 10 minutesˇ¦ walking distance from their normal place of study and require the use of public transport.
Payment of the travel subsidy for the school year will be credited into the bank accounts of the successful applicants in term 2. Student Financial Assistance Agency will notify those unsuccessful students individually.

University Financial Assistance Scheme

Supplementing the government financial assistance schemes, the University Financial Assistance Scheme offers bursaries and/or interest-free loans to full-time UGC-funded local students who face financial hardship or whose financial needs are inadequately met by the Government grants and/or loans.
