In order to improve studentsˇ¦ English by means of fun activities and competitions, the Mrs. Presidentˇ¦s Cup Inter-Hostel Speech Contest 2004 and 2005 were held in 29 March 2004 and 30 March 2005 respectively, and around 300 participants attended the event. With the continuous support from Mrs. President, the Mrs. Presidentˇ¦s Cup 2006 will continue to be organized on 6 April 2006.
Objectives
To arouse studentsˇ¦ awareness of good English speaking.
To enhance studentsˇ¦ interest in improving their English by means of fun. activities and competitions

Format of the Contest
To encourage more students to speak good English, a speech contest will be held in April. The 6 student hostels will be invited to take part in two sections: (1) Group and (2) Solo, so that students can participate in both groups and/or alone. The Overall Championship of the speech contest will be decided by the total points gained by each hostel.

Group Section
Each hostel will form a group of not less than 10
contestants. Each group will perform a cheering team presentation for not more than 4 minutes. Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up will be awarded.Solo Section
Student residents and affiliated members of the 6 hostels whose mother tongue is not English can participate in the solo section. The verse could be selected by their own or from the recommended list provided by the organizer. The performance will be
2 ˇV 3 minutes. A maximum of three entries from each hostel will be allowed. Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up will be awarded.ˇ@
