Internship Programme for University Graduates (GIP) The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, in cooperation with 12 degree-awarding tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, has launched the Internship Programme for University Graduates (GIP) to provide internship opportunities to fresh graduates. GIP provides opportunities for interested graduates to work as interns and receive training of 6 to 12 months, aiming at broadening their horizon and helping them gain experience. For local internships, interns will receive training in their capacity as employees, at no less than HK$4,000 per month. For mainland internships, interns will be entitled to a living allowance of HK$3,000 per month and, depending on circumstances, an accommodation allowance of HK1,500 per month maximum. For Lingnan University Graduates 2008 & 2009 Job vacancies under GIP are being released via Career News and/or Job Information Platform (JIP) (link). Please observe the application details and submit your application to respective Participating Enterprises (PEs) as soon as possible, effective from 1 August 2009. Your application will not be processed once the vacancies are filled. Successful employment under GIP should commence on or after 1 August 2009.

For Mainland Internship Notes for Application to GIP Mainland Internship (for LU Graduates) Be reminded that Mainland internships are not premised on an employment relationship. Taking up internships on the Mainland is an important decision and thus eligible graduates are advised to duly consider your CIRCUMSTANCES, your SUITABILITY and COMMITMENT for taking up and completing the WHOLE internship. Interested candidates are advised to discuss and solicit the support from your families before making the application to any mainland internships. ALL candidates MUST read the "Guidelines for Mainland Internships"(內地實習需知) and the "Corner for Mainland Internship" (內地實習專區) (Link) in addition to LU’s GIP web site to acquaint themselves with all the necessary responsibilities, expectations and information before making the application. A few bullets highlighted below: 1. Candidates should be proficient in Putonghua in order to live and intern on the Mainland. 2. Candidates are required to possess valid travel documentations, in addition to their HKID/ passport. 3. Chinese application (cover letter and resume) will be required for all Mainland internships’application. 4. Candidates are required to furnish us with the necessary documentations (see For Registration (Mainland Internship)”below, one set per application) when submitting the application by mail or by hand via SSC – Career Services. Upon request from the hosting organizations, candidates may be required to provide a copy of the medical check report to the hosting organizations for reference before the commencement of Mainland internships. 6. In view of the necessary administration time for processing the disbursement of Living and Accommodation Allowances (if any) after a full month commitment; and that the disbursement will be deposited to their designated bank account in Hong Kong only, candidates are advised to reserve enough cash on hand to finance the necessary expenses to cover their transportation & daily needs, personal proceeds as well as emergencies or back up. 7. Candidates are expected to take full responsibilities of their own health and safety; and to exercise good judgment and avoid participating in events/ activities that may be hazardous to your health and safety. Though Mainland interns under GIP will be covered by an insurance policy provided by the Labour Department (LD), HKSAR (to be announced via the Labour Department’s GIP web site: http://www.gip.labour.gov.hk shortly), individual intern may consider taking out further insurance for additional protection as deem appropriate, at their own expense. The university will not in any way responsible and liable (whether negligent or otherwise) for any misfortune of whatsoever nature which may befall the intern during the whole period of the internship programme. 8. Successful candidates should make their own transportation arrangements upon the confirmation of the departure date with the hosting organization after mutual discussion.
