Fees

Tuition Fee

For Lingnan University Full-time Undergraduate Students:

LU full-time undergraduate students may take one or two summer courses free of charge by either (i) making use of their unused credits*, if any, spared from the annual quota after Term 1 and Term 2 studies of the current academic year; or (ii) making advanced use of credits** out of the quota for the following academic year.

A final year student who wishes to study in the summer term but has no spare credits or has fulfilled graduation requirements after Term 2, 2009-10 shall pay tuition fees (same as those “for other outside or LU students” as specified below). He/she is required to pay a deposit of HK$500 upon submission of application form, and will be required to pay the balance of the tuition fees upon receipt of our confirmation of enrollment and not later than 19 May 2010, that is, one week before commencement of classes. For a final year student who has fulfilled graduation requirements after Term 2, 2009-10, the 2010 summer term results will not be included as part of the degree study.

*
Unused credits:

For example, a student who has enrolled a total of 30 credits in 2009-10 will have 3 unused credits (33-30) for taking a summer course of 1-3 credits.  In counting the unused credits spared from the annual quota, only the regular quota of credits should be counted.  (i.e. if a student has obtained special approval for enrolling additional credits beyond the quota for Terms 1 and 2 but subsequently abandoned the extra enrollment, those additional credits would NOT be counted as unused credits.)  For the calculation of the study load of non-credit bearing courses of FRE101, JAP101 and SPA101, each of these courses will be regarded as carrying a load of 3 credits, i.e. 3 credits will be deducted in study load, but no credit will be earned.

**
Advanced use of credits:

A student who studies summer course/s by making advanced use of credits of the following year but subsequently/actually does not study for 2 complete terms (Term 1 & Term 2) in that following year (such as suspension, early graduation after Term 1, part-time students, etc) will render the “advanced use” invalid, and therefore would be required to pay back the summer term tuition fees to the University.

For Other Outside or LU Students (including LU students with less than full-time study load in either Term 1 or Term 2, Associate Degree students), and other local / non-local students / persons with equivalent qualifications:

a three-credit course or equivalent non-credit bearing additional language course (e.g. French / Japanese / Spanish): HK$5,000 per course
•
a one-credit course: HK$1,700 per course

Applicants are required to pay a deposit of HK$500 upon submission of application form. Payment can be made by cheque or bank draft payable to “Lingnan University”. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable except when the course concerned is cancelled or the applicant is not accepted for enrollment. Non-local applicants will be required to pay the balance of the tuition fee not later than the date specified in the admission letter.

Hostel Fee (for students who would like to reside on campus)
