Visual Studies at Lingnan regularly organizes research seminars, exhibitions, and artists' talks. The focus here is on events scheduled from August 15th, 2009 onwards, the date when Visual Studies made the transition from programme to stand-alone Department. In 2009 / 2010 the Department of Visual Studies at Lingnan will be organizing a number of events:

• Visitings artists Vincent CHUI and Stella TANG will provide ILP-credit-bearing artists’ talks in which they share their approach to film and painting respectively. Each artist will also provide a second talk, open to the Lingnan community at large and general public.
• Dr. Carol Archer will be organizing an exhibition of her recent artworks during the first few months of 2010.
• Stella TANG will be organizing an exhibition of artworks produced during her residency at Lingnan. This exhibition will open in May 2010.
• Students will once again showcase student works produced in the studio practice courses and through various student-driven initiatives during the October Open Day.

Planning for 2010/2011 is already in progress:

• Filmmaker Evans CHAN is collaborating with the Department, which will host a multi-media exhibition, a series of talks, and a film screening, all in connection with CHAN’S new film devoted to the important Chinese reformer KANG Youwei.
