BBA Summer Internship Programme 2024 - Positions for Application

Important Points to Note

1. BBA Summer Internship Programme 2024 is only eligible to those who have submitted the “Internship Registration Form” by 18 April 2024

4. If the salary of your summer job lined up by the Undergraduate Programmes Office, Faculty of Business falls below the hourly pay* set by the Minimum Wage Ordinance (MWO), please pay attention to the followings:

   1. You will be a “Work Experience Student” under the MWO.
   2. Exemption criteria for Statutory Minimum Wage (SMW):
      • under the age of 26 years at the beginning of employment;
      • the student employee and his/her employer may agree to treat a continuous period of up to 59 days as exempt student employment; and
      • at most one period of exempt student employment may commence in the same calendar year (whether under the employment with the same employer or not), and
      • the student has to make (i) a statutory declaration** verifying this fact and provide the declaration (or copy) to the employer; and (ii) a confirmation of student status for “Work Experience Student” under the MWO issued by the University before the commencement of the employment contract.

Remarks *

The Legislative Council has approved the subsidiary legislation on the revised SMW rate. The SMW rate is raised to $40 per hour with effect from 1 May 2023.

**Statutory Declaration

• A work experience student may make a statutory declaration through existing available channels (via Home Affairs Department 民政事務總署).
• Any person who makes a false statutory declaration commits a criminal offence (刑事罪行) and is liable to prosecution.

# Confirmation of Student Status for “Work Experience Student” under the MWO

• This document is issued by the University to show that the work experience student is at the commencement of the employment enrolled in a programme offered by Lingnan University.
• The copies of the above two documents should be kept by the employer, student and the University.
