NSO 2022 - New Students (Type A)

Welcome to Lingnan University and the New Student Orientation!

 

The University offers face-to-face and online e-programmes in the New Student Orientation 2022 (NSO 2022) which are to provide the essential information to new students.

NSO 2022 aims at helping you adjust to university life and build up the relationship network.  NSO 2022 includes Welcome Address by the President, talks, library and campus introductions, etc. 

 


  1. Check your mail box
  2. Access to the "Online Reporting System"
  3. Activate your Lingnan computer account
  4. Academic advising
  5. Decide whether you will apply student hostel
  • non-local degree seeking undergraduate students do not need to submit hostel application in their first year of study. The Office of Student Affairs will contact you for hostel room assignment;
  • self-financed programmes students please contact your programme office about hostel application.

 



Students who are admitted before 23 August 2022, 12:00 noon should:

NOTE:   

 

  1. Please do read the Campus Entrance Requirements: https://www.ln.edu.hk/announcement/20220419/update-on-vaccine-pass-implementation-19-april-2022 and ensure you have fulfilled the related requirements before NSO.

  2. Hostel Allocation Result:  The hostel application result will be announced on 23 August 2022.  Please download the LU Mobile App and login with your Lingnan account. You may check your room allocation from “Student Affairs” > “Hostel Allocation Result”. The hostel room will be shown in this format (Hostel Block /Room No. /Bedside) “HE201A”.  For the Hostel check-in procedures, please visit https://www.ln.edu.hk/osa/hostel/application for details.

  3. Bad Weather Arrangements:  When Typhoon Warning Signal No. 1 or 3 or the Amber or Red Rainstorm Warning is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory, NSO should be held as scheduled.    When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is in force or likely to be issued (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory)/Black Rainstorm Warning is in force at 7am of after, NSO will be postponed.  Please watch out for the announcement of the Hong Kong Observatory and OSA Facebook or OSA Instagram.
  4. Application for Leave of Absence:  New undergraduate students who are unable to attend the Face-to-Face NSO on 26 August 2022 should apply to the Office of Student Affairs via https://lingnan.asia.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2f6QtqK4k9IJWBg for leave of absence with justification.  Completed application should be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs NO LATER THAN 11:59pm, 21 August 2022.  Late application will only be considered in the event of force majeure (e.g. Compulsory quarantine/ confirmed cases of COVID-19) on a case -by-case basis.  Permission of leave will be granted only under very exceptional circumstances.

NOTE:  Item 2 "The LU Mobile Apps", Item 11 "Lingnan Campus Tour" and Item 12 "Introduction to Equal Opportunities on Campus" require 100% as passing grade.   Students are required to fulfill “PASS” in all online quizzes in order to earn the ILP units, students need to complete 1 question for acknowledgment.

Attendance and ILP units

New students who have completed the NSO 2022 Programmes by 30 September 2022 will be granted 15 ILP units.  If the full set of the programmes are not completed, students will be required to make up the 15 ILP units during their course of study.
