Welcome to our Master of Accountancy (MAcc) Programme! Managed by the Department of Accountancy, Lingnan University, this one-year full-time programme equips our graduates with an up-to-date, broad knowledge of developments in accounting theory and practice from both a global and local perspective, thus enabling them to reach high in their next phase of career development. 

Lingnan’s MAcc programme is characterized by its rigorous academic content, highly-qualified teaching team, professional accreditation and recognition, and excellent job placement and prospects. A carefully-designed and rigorous curriculum adequately prepare our students for the many challenges in the future workplace. All the full-time instructors of the programme hold doctoral degrees in accountancy or closely related disciplines and are experts in their respective fields. Seasoned practitioners in accounting firms and law practices serve as part-time instructors and bring a wealth of experience to the classroom. The MAcc programme has obtained accreditation and recognition from professional bodies such as the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and CPA Australia, etc., in addition to be an accredited programme by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Apart from providing a rich academic learning experience that combines theory with practice, the Lingnan MAcc programme also offers plenty of extra-curriculum activities and job-related events such as recruitment talks, guest lectures, field trips, professional image building workshops, and mock interviews to strengthen students’ soft skills so as to position them competitively in the job market upon graduation.

There have been major developments in international and local accounting and auditing standards and tax rules and practices in recent years. Increasing complexity in the business and regulatory environment explains the high demand for enhanced knowledge in accountancy for both business executives and professional accountants.  In fact, accounting education is no longer something just for professional accountants; rather, it is an essential component of the skill set required for all business executives. By providing more in-depth knowledge in accountancy beyond the bachelor’s degree level, our programme serves to equip anyone in business with the knowledge and skills required to meet the needs of today’s businesses and help make wiser and better business decisions.
