Advanced Institute for Global Chinese Studies (AIGCS)
Of the six distinguished venues of publication founded/co-founded and actively run by the Institute Director, three are semiannual journals: Prism: Theory and Modern Chinese Literature and Journal of Chinese Literature and Culture (JCLC), both published by Duke University Press and the Lingnan Journal of Chinese Studies 嶺南學報 (LJCS) published by Shanghai Guji chubanshe (Shanghai Classics Publishing House), a leading publisher in classical Chinese culture.
The Institute’s achievements in journal publishing have been acknowledged by the international academia. The three journals have been included in prestigious indexes: Emerging Sources Citation Index and Scopus for the Prism; the Taiwan Humanities Citation Index (with the Core Journal status) for LJCS, and the Arts and Humanities Index for JCLC.
In 2020, the Institute director Zong-qi Cai won the “Distinguished Editor Award,” the highest honor given by the Council of Editors of Learned Journals, for his founding/co-founding and editorship of three journals mentioned above. It is the first time since the Council’s establishment in 1984 that this prestigious award has been given to an editor of journals devoted to Asian studies.
