Description

Filmmaking is synonymous with story-telling. Or is it? How does editing affect or enhance the storytelling? What is ‘Editing thinking outside-the-box’? Not always in formal conventional ways, but freely taking from many influences such as other film forms (cross-insemination of fiction, documentary and experimental films) and music or literary inspiration. Mary proposes an impromptu freewheeling show-and-tell with excerpts from films (fiction and documentary) she edited to encourage thinking outside-the-box, keeping in mind a sense of respect for the audience which doesn't mean not using techniques to jostle them out of their comfort zone and into a deeper emotional experience.
