Lingnan Arts Biennale Motion Logo Design Competition

「嶺南藝術雙年節」動態標誌設計比賽

 

1. Introduction

Lingnan Arts Festival has been launched since 2011. It brings various art forms from Hong Kong as well as other parts of the world to the Lingnan campus. Students, alumni, staff members and any member in the society are able to participate and enrich their cultural well-being through enjoying and taking part in a variety of art and cultural activities, including drama, creative writing workshops, dance performances, fine arts seminars, film shows, and music programmes, among many others.

 

On its 10th anniversary, the festival will be transformed from an annual event to a biennial cultural event, and it will be renamed to Lingnan Arts Biennale. Some major performances will take place in some well-known art and cultural venues in town. Audience will be immersed in the cultural venues, and their cultural ambience, when they are enjoying the performances. This will enhance the overall cultural experience of participants.

 

To mark this important transformation, the faculty sincerely invites all local secondary school students, and sub-degree and university students to unleash their creativity to design a unique logo for “Lingnan Arts Biannale”.

 

There will be a winner, a 1st-runner up, and two to three winners for 2nd-runner up. Awardees will receive cash prize of HK$10,000, HK$5,000 and HK$1,000 respectively and a certificate. The winning entry could be adopted as the official logo of Lingnan Arts Biennale.

2. Eligibility

  1. All secondary school, community college and university students in Hong Kong.
  2. Only accept individual participant.
  3. Each participant can submit one set of entry only.

 

3. Submission Formats

Participants must submit both still logo and motion graphic design. Submission formats are listed as below:

Logo Design
  • Both Colour and B/W versions must be submitted
  • Only Adobe Illustrator format (.ai) is accepted
  • The composition elements of the logo have to include the following typographic elements: 「嶺南藝術雙年節」and Lingnan Arts Biennale
  • The type is required to be outlined
Motion Logo Design
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Duration: around 15 seconds 
  • Format: MP4
  • Codec: H.264
  1. The design of the still logo should follow the design of motion logo, and vice versa.
  2. If the submissions cannot fulfil the above-mentioned submission requirements, the entries will not be considered.

 

4. Submission Deadline

11 June 2021 (Friday), 17:00

 

 

5. Application and Submission

Method 1 – Direct Online Application and Submission

  1. Complete the online application form and submit the entries via the online platform. Please note that the file size of each file should not exceed 100MB.

 

If the file size is larger than 100MB and exceeds the size limit of the online platform, you can submit the entries via Method 2 or Method 3. Participants are required to zip all the submissions (including colour and B/W logo design and one motion logo design) and upload the zip file for submission. Method 2 – by Email

  1. Complete the Application Form;

  2. Upload to entries to any servers or online platforms;

  3. Send the Application Form and the valid link(s) of the entries to LAB@LN.edu.hk.

 

Method 3 – by Post

  1. Complete the Application Form;

  2. Save the entries to a DVD disc;
  3. Mail the Application Form and the DVD disc to the following address:

6. Assessment and Judging Criteria

The Judging Panel is comprised of academic members of the Faculty of Arts of Lingnan University. The Panel will assess and judge the submissions according to the following criteria.

7. Awards

Champion:       Cash Prize of HK$10,000 and Certificate      (1 winner)
1st Runner-up: Cash Prize of HK$5,000 and Certificate        (1 winner)
2nd Runner-up:   Cash Prize of HK$1,000 and Certificate        (2-3 winners)

 

The Office of the Faculty of Arts may polish and modify the winning entry and adopt it as the official logo of Lingnan Arts Biennale. The official logo will be published on all relevant promotional materials.

 

 

8. Announcement of Results

The winning results will be announced on the website of Faculty of Arts of Lingnan and its Facebook page in mid-July 2021. Winners will be notified individually.
