The Covid 19 pandemic triggered the most serious economic crisis since the Second World War and continues to have a lingering effect on the world economy. As some countries and regions have started to relax public health measures that were taken to contain the virus and reduce its adverse impact on the infected, we cannot help but wonder: How will this affect the Chinese economy? Prof. Barry Naughton who is the So Kwan Lok Chair of Chinese International Affairs in the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California, San Diego, shared his insights on this topic. The President of Lingnan University, Prof. Leonard Cheng and the Chairman of the China Committee, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Mr. Michiel Mak gave the welcome remarks for this talk. Prof. Ho Lok-sang, Director, of Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute and the China Economic Research Programme, Lingnan University concluded the talk. This talk was co-organized by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and attracted over 130 online and onsite participants.
