Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Assistant Professor

The Advanced Institute for Global Chinese Studies

To promote interdisciplinary research in or related to Chinese studies, the AIGCS is hiring one or two postdoctoral fellows, with the functional title of research assistant professor in all areas of Chinese humanities and arts. The appointees will be mainly responsible for (a) undertaking research projects; (b) engaging different knowledge transfer activities; (c) organizing research events (e.g., symposium and workshops) and (d) engaging in teaching and learning activities.

General Requirements

Applicants should have (i) relevant postgraduate qualifications in areas of Chinese studies; (ii) substantial relevant work experience in research proposal writing and conducting research projects; (iii) good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; and (iv) good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to candidates with clear promise of publication in a respectable publishing venues. Promising on-going collaboration with the Lingnan Arts Faculty members is a strong plus.

Applicants should provide information about their qualifications, research interests and achievements along with evidence of quality teaching. Experiences with grant-funded research and grant applications are highly desirable. Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years. Experienced Postdoctoral Fellow may carry a functional title of Research Assistant Professor.
