Offices and Units

  • Office of the Core Curriculum
The Office of the Core Curriculum (OCC) provides a full range of administration and management support for the Core Curriculum for all undergraduate students of LU.

  • Science Unit
The Science Unit (SU) was first established to develop and teach science courses designed for non-science students at LU to fulfill the “Science, Technology, Mathematics and Society" Cluster (CLD) requirements of the Core Curriculum. It aims to increase students’ understanding and awareness of science through courses, formal and informal public lectures, and engagement with the campus and local community. With the launch  of the Minor in Environmental and Scientific Literacy and MPhil in Environmental Science in 2020-21, the SU continues to explore and develop new initiatives to promote science education, for example developing new interdisciplinary courses in the "Creativity and Innovation" Cluster (CLA). The teaching goal of the Unit is to develop courses that introduce LU students to the excitement of the natural sciences and provides them with the skills they will need to deal with the complex scientific issues that will face them in the future.

  • Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit
As Music and performing arts are essential under the liberal arts education framework, the Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit (WBLMP) was established in 2017 with the objectives to offer curricular and co-curricular courses and activities in a wide variety of topics; to provide experiential learning opportunities for students to actively participate in music-making and in the performing arts; to present performance events including concerts featuring music from various cultures, theatre and dance performances; and to nurture leaders who can understand the connections between art forms and between arts and society, demonstrate interdisciplinary flexibility, and contribute artistic meanings to their communities. Over the years, WBLMP has successfully delivered courses, activities, and many well-received events to enrich students’ musical and artistic learning experiences and to strengthen LU's community engagement. Its offerings continue growing steadily, gaining the Unit a reputation for innovation and uniqueness in music and arts education.
