The Faculty of Social Sciences offers taught postgraduate (MSc/MA) and research postgraduate (MPhil/PhD) programmes across all the major Social Science disciplines.

 

Research Postgraduate Programmes

The Faculty offers MPhil/PhD Programmes in Economics, Government and International Affairs, Psychology, Sociology and/or Social Policy. The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Programme in Social Sciences was launched in the year 1995, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme in Social Sciences in 2000-2001. Both MPhil and PhD Programmes require students to engage in-depth study in specific research areas in the Social Sciences.

MSc in International Banking and Finance (MIBF)

The Department of Economics launched a full-time one-year taught Master of Science in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme in the 2006-07 academic year. Students study on a wide range of practical banking, finance and economics courses in this programme.

Master of Social Sciences in Applied Psychology (MAP)

The Master of Social Sciences in Applied Psychology (MAP) Programme does not only provide students with a broad foundation in the practical applications of psychology, but also enable them to lay the foundations for a more specific career, as they will have the option to pursue a Concentration in Counselling Psychology. In this full-time one-year / part-time two-year programme, a range of elective courses enable students to pursue their own specific interests.
