HSBC X HKET Innovative Business Award

HSBC x HKET Innovative Business Award (Closed)

Organised by HSBC Commercial Banking and Hong Kong Economic Times (“HKET”), the Award was first launched in 2018 to recognise Hong Kong businesses which have broadened their horizons to achieve ground-breaking success through innovation and technology.

Award Mechanics

The Award includes 2 categories, namely Innovative SME and Innovative Startup. Each category includes Gold, Silver and Bronze awards with cash prize up to HK$300,000/ HK$300,000 worth of advertisements on HKET and a trophy.

【第二屆「耆創無窮-優化銀齡生活比賽」── 主題工作坊】(Closed)

社聯主辦的第二屆「耆創無窮-優化銀齡生活創新大賽」已經開放申請。歡迎公眾、團體、社會企業家、企業家、非政府組織從業者及學生參加。優勝項目共8個,每個可獲得最高港幣200,000元資金實踐計劃項目。比賽申請截止日期為6月30日。

為了讓參加者了解長者需要,社聯聯同多間長者服務機構及一眾社會創業家,於5月21至30日期間舉辦四個主題工作坊。工作坊分別透過文化藝術、探訪社區、社會創新以及科技與長者的關係,令參加者對銀齡人士需要有更深入的認識。

British Council BRICKS

 

British Council - BRICKS: INVITATION to participate in the Social Innovation Research Collaboration Platform (Closed)

As part of the BRICKS programme, British Council is launching the SIRCP (Social Innovation Research Collaboration Platform) which is targeted to facilitate connections between research-track academics and community-based changemakers in order to develop socially impactful collaborations and new approaches that produce innovative solutions to Challenge pilot by communities in Hong Kong. A pilot initiative of the BRICKS programme, SIRCP also aims to build an infrastructure that can support experimentation and risk taking in addressing systemic social challenges.

Between May and August 2019, the SIRCP will deliver:

  • a two-day collaboration workshop in Hong Kong (10-11 May)
  • the award of seed funding for up to eight research projects focusing on one of the tracks described below that demonstrated collaboration and potential to achieve social impact. (deadline for proposals mid-June 2019)
  • an opportunity for these seed-funded projects to pitch for additional funding from the SIE Fund in order to scale their impact.

Music Documentary Screening of “L.O.V.E. in F.R.A.M.E.S.” and Eason Chan’s Sharing (Closed)

The music documentary “L.O.V.E. in F.R.A.M.E.S.” is directed by Cheung Kit Bong, one of the backing vocalists of the DUO band. It captures the behind-the-scenes of the “DUO Eason Chan Concert” between 2010 and 2012 and the making of the album “L.O.V.E.” in England, Guangzhou and Hong Kong over six years.

SCMP LU Challenge 2019

LU-SCMP Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge 2019 (Closed)

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) is collaborating with Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative (LEI), Student Services Centre, Office of Service-Learning and Department of Management to organize the first LU-SCMP Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge 2019 this year. It comprises training and competition to encourage Lingnanians to transform their business and innovation ideas into entrepreneurial startups.

Students who have successfully completed the training workshops will be awarded a certificate issued by LU and SCMP. You will also have the opportunity to win HK20,000 Entrepreneurship Knowledge Transfer Fund to execute your ideas, co-working space yearly membership and SCMP email marketing service which could help you reach out 120,000 potential customers!

SummerAcademy

Joint Humanitarian Entrepreneurship Summer Academy 2019

Most learning in universities takes place in isolation, students are offered courses and there are outreach programs which try to work with communities. Considering an apparent lack of a crossover between a structured course and student-community interaction; Office of service learning and Lingnan entrepreneurship initiative at Lingnan University, Hong Kong initiated the first joint humanitarian entrepreneurship summer academy in 2018.

This year, the academy will take place in Hong Kong and Almaty, Kazakhstan from 2nd June to 29th June 2019. Participants will have a deeeper understanding of the SDGs and humanitarian work, develop better research skills, apply theories and knowledge to practical sessions, and receive hands-on training in areas such as arduino, 3D- printing, autonomous devices, under-water robotics and so on.

3D modelling workshop

Workshop Series (2): 3D Modelling & 3D Printing (Closed)

This workshop introduces the principles and practices of 3D modelling and 3D printing, and explore its applications in addressing social issues of interests to the participants. Participants will get hands-on experience on using a free software to develop 3D models as well as operating a 3D printer to produce physical objects of various sizes and structural complexities.

This workshop introduces the principles and practices of robotics and programmable devices, and explore its applications in addressing social issues of interests to the participants. Participants will get hands-on experience on assembling a versatile robotic kit with add-on sensors and motors as well as basic programming skills for operating a range of gadgets (robots, vehicles, and drones).

LU Soc-Tech Development Scheme - Build ‧ Chat ‧ Help (Closed)

LU Soc-Tech Development Scheme is a 5-week training program which aims to develop our students’ innovation mindset and technology skills to make tangible products to impact our society. The program will cover:

  • Learning how to utilize interesting technology such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, iBeacon and Charbot
  • Generating innovative ideas into practical gargets to address social challenges
  • Learning programming languages such as Python and C in an easy and interesting way

Startup Weekend Hong Kong +ve Ageing @ Lingnan University (Closed)

Startup Weekend is a 54-hour weekend event, participants will form teams, brainstorm, design products, validate business ideas and pitch in front of experienced judges on Sunday evening.
