Mobile Phones

The majority of Hong Kong residents own mobile phones and use them frequently. Networks in Hong Kong offer good coverage, even available on the underground.

Like most of the world, Hong Kong uses the GSM cellular phone system. Students may bring their own mobile phone if it operates with the above system or buy a new one after arrival. Students may buy a prepaid SIM card at a convenience store upon their arrival. After getting the Hong Kong ID card, students may apply for a monthly mobile plan at the telecommunication companies with their Hong Kong ID card, passport and proof of residential address in Hong Kong. The nearest shops of the mobile phone service providers can be found in Tuen Mun Town Centre.

WiFi

Free Wifi service is available in Hong Kong in many places, such as the Hong Kong International Airport, major parks and gardens, public libraries, MTR stations, coffee shops, etc.
