Hong Kong has a subtropical climate. It is hot and humid in summer and cold and dry in winter. T-shirts, skirts or shorts are recommended in summer time while long sleeve shirts, sweater, jackets with jeans or long pants are more suitable for winter time.
Extreme weather will be occurred sometimes such as tropical cyclones, monsoon troughs and thunderstorms. Typhoons are usually occur from July to September. When the typhoon signal No.8 or above or black rainstorm warning signal is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory, classes are suspended. Students should stay indoors.
