Dear Students and Colleagues,

The memorial service for Mr. Jiang Zemin, the late President of the People's Republic of China, will be held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing at 10am on Tuesday, 6 December 2022.

Across the country from 10:00 to 10:03am people will observe a three-minute silence as a respectful tribute to President Jiang.

The University will live broadcast the memorial service at Kin Sun Square (Skylight). Students and staff of Lingnan University are requested to observe these three minutes of silence and, in line with Chinese customs, are strongly encouraged to refrain from wearing colourful clothes and holding entertainment activities on that same day. Thank you.

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:
1. Learn the safety measures in swimming pool;

3. Proceed to learn swimming.

Description:

Learning how to float is the first lesson in learning how to swim. You need to relax your body, let go of your fears and give yourself to the water. In this workshop, you will be taught how to float in water.

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:
1. Learn the safety measures in swimming pool;
2. Swim with basic skills; and
3. Continue to improve swimming skills.

Description:

Swimming is an individual or team sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. In this course, the four major swimming styles (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle) will be taught.

Objectives:

At the end of the activity, students will be able to:
1. Point out the safety guidelines and training theories of lifting;
2. Practice the most suitable sets of training and lifting equipment; and
3. Obtain the qualification of using fitness room.

Description:

This workshop is designed to let students understand on how to effectively train up body muscles and concepts of weight control. Instructor will enable students to practice various training steps upon needs and ability level of individual students. Students will be qualified to use the equipment of the University’s fitness room once he or she completed this workshop.

1. Understand the importance of protecting Hong Kong’s seashore;
2. Take actions against ocean pollution; and
3. Enhance understanding of SDG 14 "life below water".

Description:

Students will explore the ecological system of Ha Pak Nai and the concept of sustainable development by investigating and studying the biodiversity in coastal mudflats, oceans and mangroves, attending a mini-lecture carry out by A Plastic Ocean and cleaning the shoreline.

Objectives:

1. Understand the structure of Living Well Ambassador programme;
2. Learn the concept of wellness; and

Description:

Lingnan Living Well Ambassadors play a vital role in supporting Lingnan's mission to promote wellbeing in the community. Students will receive mental and physical health training as well as engaging in various events and campaigns to advocate wellness in the University. The briefing will give details of the structure of the scheme, trainings & services opportunities and also the recognition system.

1. Understand the difficulties and problems in listening;
2. Understand why we need to acquire some listening skill; and
3. Handle some skills and techniques in being a good listener.

Description:

Listening is the skill that can make or break a relationship. It is as important for you to understand the person, as it is to understand what the person is saying. There is a lot more to listening than just understanding the meaning of words.

Participants will learn the practical career planning strategies from an outstanding alumnus who grabbed six promising positions from reputable companies/government departments in his graduation year. This event would definitely benefit to students' career management and preparation at an early stage.

Engaging the body and mind, the activity will take you to a wellness journey in which you will participate in various mindfulness exercises, giving you a boost of calm, focus and tranquility; connecting to the natural energy as well as bringing your attention fully in the present moment.

Description:

In this Adobe Express introductory workshop, you will learn about the fundamental functions of Adobe Express with the step-by-step instructions from our instructor. You will also have the chance to create your first Adobe Express graphic design project. By the end of this course, you will get familiar with the tools used in most of the design projects.

Students will learn the basics of robotics through a series of hands-on activities such as building and programming a robot to perform some tasks. Members of Lingnan Robocon Team will introduce their competition robots and share what they have learned.
