研究與影響
聚焦職場事情的研究
在過去十年左右的時間裏,亞洲各國一直經歷著由新技術和經濟力量轉移共同帶來的根本性改變。
當然,最近還有新冠疫情的影響,新冠疫情除了影響大家的健康,還顛覆了許多企業,破壞了許多年輕人的學習和事業發展計劃。
接受正在發生的一切及理解它們對勞動力的影響並不是容易的。為此,嶺南大學(嶺大)各院系的學者們在自身研究範疇外追蹤趨勢、分析理據和根本源頭,並就職場的發展方向和預期演變提出自己的看法。
部分研究項目和論文可以歸納於一個廣泛的主題:香港社會背景下的就業、青年轉型和福祉。
然而,學者所做的工作也充分考慮到國際和比較的層面,以及亞洲和更遠地區的高等教育系統應該如何發展以迎接新的挑戰。
在政府的敦促下,大家更加重視、也有更多的學生報讀該些與知識型經濟緊密相關的課程,而課程亦著力培育一批更具創業創新精神、可以即時投入職場的畢業生。
這在原則上看起來似乎很好,但至少在短期內,這些舉措實際上加劇了畢業生失業或就業不足的問題,而新冠疫情導致招聘工作普遍放緩,使問題變得更加嚴重。
有分析顯示快速增長的熱門學科人才供應並不符合實際的市場需求。因此,當大家意識到這個問題時,政策辯論和廣泛的學術研究就自然關注到這一現象在社區不同層面所產生的社會和經濟後果。
為了作出有意義的貢獻,嶺大成立了一個研究團隊,研究一系列相互關聯的問題。包括高等教育的 「大眾化」和「私有化」、不斷變化的社會生產力,以及年輕人從教育過渡到職場的情況。
重要的是,研究還延伸到青年人在動蕩和充滿壓力的新時代中的福祉問題,以及對公共政策的影響。
秉承嶺大 「研以致用」的理念,每項研究都與聯合國17個可持續發展目標(SDG)的其中一個或多個目標相關聯,尤其會涉及優質教育;體面工作和經濟增長;工業、創新和基礎設施;以及良好的健康和福祉。它們的目的是為世界各國提供一個適用於21世紀的明確路線圖,並平衡人類的需求和自然環境的保護。
可持續發展目標的其中一個目標是促進夥伴關係,以期更有效地應對區域性和全球問題。為實現這一目標,嶺大率先與歐洲和亞洲的夥伴院校建立牢固的研究聯繫,往後還會有更多的夥伴院校加入。
嶺大的研究夥伴院校均享譽國際,包括牛津大學和倫敦大學的教育研究院,還有芬蘭圖爾庫大學的東亞研究中心,以及挪威斯塔萬格大學社會科學學院的研究小組。
到目前為止,在亞洲富有聲望的合作院校包括北京大學的教育學院和臺灣政治大學的教育學院。
這種夥伴關係的直接好處是它們為教授和研究生提供了一個驗證理論和交流思想的平台。除此之外,它們還為聯合主辦國際會議和專題討論會開拓新機會,並會合作在一些學術界最具權威的期刊上發表觀點和研究成果。
事實上,在過去幾年,嶺大的研究團隊一直在同行評審論文、章節和文章方面保持著穩定的產出率,而且每一份著作都為嶺大作為亞洲領先的博雅大學這個聲譽錦上添花。
嶺大文化研究系主任和講座教授潘毅教授最近發表的三份著作就很好地說明研究的規模和範圍。
其中一項研究是關於新中國工人階級的形成,他們的努力和掙扎對重塑中國和世界各地日後的階級關係有重大影響。
另一項研究是對香港失業保險進行批判性的政策分析,在這方面,許多人認為香港是一個具有特殊風險的城市。第三項研究是關於中國卡車司機的問題,及其對新移民的掙扎和 「基礎設施資本主義 」的出現的影響。
其他學者或單獨或夥拍其他研究人員探討了以下的問題:疫情期間在家工作的成效;香港工作的成年人與大灣區的心理距離;人力資源發展計劃中學生對就業能力的自我評估;以及在一個富裕的全球城市的個人收入和幸福。
