In view of the continuation of the COVID-19 outbreak and a possibility of new waves of infections in cooler weather, the University has decided, after careful consideration and much deliberation, to conduct the 51st Congregation online on 19 November 2020.
Given the unpredictable pandemic situation and associated social distancing measures, the likelihood for last-minute cancellation of a face-to-face congregation in November is high. The University now confirms with certainty that the 51st Congregation will be held as scheduled online. As our stakeholders have waited anxiously for a decision from the University, this decision of a virtual congregation ensures the participation of graduands, their families and guests in the ceremony, obviating the need for them to be physically present at the venue and minimising their health risks.
The virtual congregation will basically follow the proceedings of the face-to-face mode, and the whole ceremony will be broadcast live. Special arrangements will be made to allow the participation of graduands in the degree conferment process virtually with their names presented individually to acknowledge their hard work and academic achievements, while families and guests will share the joy of our graduands anywhere in the world.
